Advertising photographers | Advertising photography
Advertising photographers can be found all over Australia. This special niche of photography, which focuses on marketing of products, companies, or people, is always in demand. If you are an advertising photographer who’s looking to make more contacts and increase networking opportunities, it may be a good idea to join a few professional organisations.
One good place to start would be to become a member of the Advertising Commercial and Media Photographers (ACMP). The group was founded in 1991 and since then has been working diligently to promote professional photography (including advertising photographers) all over Australia. The ACMP combined with the AIPP has a total of more than 2000 members.
Speaking of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) this non-profit organisation is also a good one to join for any advertising photographers looking to advance their career. While there are strict requirements for membership, the perks are worthwhile. Not only will you make it easier for Australian businesses to find you when doing a search of advertising photographers, you’ll have valuable resources at your disposal.
Expect to be invited to special seminars and workshops to help keep you up on the cutting edge of what advertising photographers in the industry are doing today. This is a great place to start if you are looking to be around other advertising photographers. You will also be excited to learn that an organisation like the AIPP can also help you in dealing with any copyright issues regarding your work. In addition, by joining these organisations you will no doubt be exposed to those who are supporters and lovers of the art of photography.
Advertising photographers in Australia definitely have some options (we’ve only provided two) when it comes to quality organisations to join to help advance their career. Full time photographers need these types of groups where they can go to congregate with likeminded individuals. Together with other advertising photographers in your area, knowledge can be gained and shared. In the end, full time advertising photographers have to do what they can to create visibility so that they can find work.
