Wendy Clayton is a professional photographer based in Eltham, Victoria
I have grown up surrounded by pets of all kinds - dogs, cats, horses, budgies, mice, goldfish, frogs, terrapins - so it goes without saying that I LOVE animals!
I specialise in contemporary pet photography and offer a unique combination of both studio and outdoor portraiture all in the one location at my property in Eltham.
Studio photography makes for very clean contemporary images with no distracting backgrounds, thus putting the focus solely on the subject - in this case your beloved pet. And, the weather in the studio is always perfect! There's no wind to blow fur into eyes, no soaking rain, or bright high contrast sun, just beautiful consistent lighting and the perfect conditions all year round.
If you would also like some photos taken using natural light then not a problem, because right next to my "indoor" studio is my "outdoor" studio - a purpose built space where I photograph against a beautiful recycled timber wall giving a very earthy, natural feel to my portraits.
I will go to great lengths to capture the heart and soul of your much loved furry friend. I have endless amounts of patience and I am not afraid to embarrass myself - I'll make whatever noise or do whatever action it takes to get "the shot".
My aim is to capture the spirit and personality of your cherished furry friend and create beautiful art to put on your walls so your friend will always be with you.

Lee O'Mahoney, Volunteer Cat Adoption Coordinator, Forever Friends Animal Rescue Inc.
Wendy has kindly donated her photography services to help rescue animals find their forever homes. I have taken six cats to her so far. She is a joy to work with. Cats can be tricky to photograph and even trickier to photograph in a studio, away from their foster homes. Wendy is incredibly patient with them, even when they're frightened and wanting to hide. The most recent photo shoot, for three foster kittens and two foster adults, went for three and a half hours, as some of the cats had other ideas on what they wanted to do. Wendy never got impatient, flustered or tired (unlike one of the cats, who settled down for a nap towards the end). She just kept trying different things to maintain their attention, including lying on the floor and making dog panting noises, which worked! The result of Wendy's patience is stunning photos that will be such a help in getting the attention of prospective adopters on the PetRescue website, where most of our adoptions come from. If you want photos that capture the essence of your pet, and wish to work with a lovely, caring and very patient person, I would highly recommend using Wendy.
The White Family,
We were thoroughly impressed with the way Wendy was able to work with our incredibly mischievous and bouncy (but much loved!) Labradoodle Lexie. We had a fun time shooting in her studio and also had a chance to have some shots taken in her "outdoor" studio, giving us more photo options to choose from. During the Viewing session I got a little teary when I saw Lexie's photos for the first time - they were more amazing than I ever imagined! Wendy managed to capture all of Lexie's expressions, idiosyncrasies and her playfulness! Wendy, from start to finish our experience with you was wonderful, thank you!
Helen (Helen purchased a gift voucher for her brother Steve),
Thank you so much for taking such lovely photos of Steve's dog, Tommy. You are so wonderful and talented. He LOVES them and it was just what he didn't know he wanted!
